Can epoxy go over painted surfaces?

Water-based paints are best and fast drying. The epoxy can go over them in about 24 hours. Oil-based paints take a LONG time to fully dry. If an oil-based paint is used, you must apply 3 coats of oil-based polyurethane to seal the surface before applying a seal coat of our UltraClear epoxy. If you go directly over the oil-based paint and it is not completely dry, you run the risk of the epoxy not sticking to the surface and peeling off months later. Acrylic paint dries faster and is safe to use the epoxy on. Please be aware, you will still have to apply your seal coat after your paint dries.
