New Year – New Resin Resolutions…
Happy New Year and welcome to our initial column of 2020! It’s the time of year when people reflect, look back at the past year, and forward to the new. Many make resolutions about things they’re going to attempt or change in the year ahead. We’re calling them ‘resin resolutions’ as that reminds us to keep our project list at hand for accomplishment this year. Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions?
According to History.com, New Year’s Resolutions began with the ancient Babylonians some 4,000 years ago. “They were also the first to hold recorded celebrations in honor of the new year—though for them the year began not in January but in mid-March, when the crops were planted.” They made promises to the Gods about repaying debts or returning borrowed items – and these could be said to be the forerunners to today’s resolutions.
The most popular New Year’s Resolutions we frequently encounter from friends and family seem to be about better management – of our finances – of our weight – of our health - and of our careers. But the one we like to focus on is when people cite wanting to explore new horizons and expand their minds or skills. That’s how we’ve gotten to know so many people – when they decide to learn a new craft – like using epoxy resin artistically or for their DIY tasks!
Research posted by inc.com says that while 60% of us will make New Year’s Resolutions, only about 8% successfully achieve them. And, more than half of the respondents in a poll about the subject, said they fail their resolution by the end of January. The research also shows that while women tend to focus on health-related issues with their resolutions; men, on the other hand, lean more towards goals such as finding a new job or limiting alcohol.
Whatever resolutions you choose, we sincerely hope that 2020 is a banner year for you and your loved ones! As we have in several recent messages, we once again, thank all of you – our customers and ambassadors for your patronage and support of our enterprise! We couldn’t do it without You! Our resolution to you in 2020 is to continue to provide the best products and service possible – so please give us any input on how you feel we can improve upon any aspects of our business…and once again…
Happy New Year!
